Release limiting karma, drama and trauma in an alchemical odyssey of awakening to the inner wisdom within universal patterns of energy flowing as a river through wild ageless spaces. Allow the guidance of nature to enrich your path with more grace, joy, clarity, purpose, passion and creativity for manifesting visions.

On the weekend of Earthdance we join a global dance ritual sending energetic roots to the planet's core and drawing dark Mother Earth essence spiraling to the heart of cosmos for reunion with source. Derango returns to give us more of their Swedish forest magic in a live performance unlike any you will experience on this side of the world along with Ghreg On Earth's first fully live set in California and many others from talented local artists over two days of music progressing through a diverse range of psychedelic genres.

::  Live  ::

DERANGO (Sanaton / Parvati :: Sweden)

Jens & Ola began writing their distinctly well crafted psytrance in 2000 which has earned them much respect over the years through phenomenal live performances and groundbreaking releases like their debut album Tumult in 2005. The creativity of Derango is a full expression of the psychedelic experience transferred in music. Their huge sound pictures are created combining a solid warm base with waves of sounds from synths and samples in constant change and movement. The result is a unique wrapping effect that gives to the listeners on one side the safe feeling of the belonging to mother-earth womb and, on the other side, the challenge of discovering and understanding that our mind and spirit have no borders.

GHREG ON EARTH (M.o.E. / Auraquake :: San Francisco)

In the two years since his widely acclaimed debut album Sigilweaver and appearance at the first Mindfull gathering Ghreg has composed an evolution of his unique sound to be shared through powerful live performances including new material from the coming album. As an aural architect, he constructs sonic structures of mysterious, melodious worlds which offer spaces otherwise concealed in the deep abyss of the subconscious. Guided by his passion for cutting edge music, art and literature from the psychedelic and mystical underground, his timeless sound realizes the magical properties of music to guide people into cinematic passages of expanded personal experience.

ARAHAT  (Psycircle :: San Diego)

Tom has been scrambling brains for over 12 years with masterful mixes of twisted, groovy, powerful night time psytrance under the moniker Hidroponik. He recently began channeling his own frequencies as Arahat and in collaborations like Arabali (with Mubali), Monks of Madness (with Bodhisattva 13:20), and Brains (with Bodhi and Mubali). His live emanations will send you on a trip through unreal dimensions of aural psychedelia.

DOG OF TEARS (Xexify :: Los Angeles)

Ranging from chaotic noise to dronescapes to industrial beats, David Cohen has been making electronic music of numerous forms under a variety of pseudonyms for the past 11 years. Upon moving from the metro-west area of Massachusetts to Los Angeles four years ago, Dog of Tears became deeply involved in the psychedelic scene and began melding his electronica obscurica with unique, woofer-rattling analog psytrance. In recent months he began collaboratting on a project with Amanda Karg of MoE known as Mugwort Moon. Prepare for an onslaught of dark, driving, distorted frequencies and rhythms replete with live modular analog synthesizer tweekage.

ANACHRONID  (Mindfull :: Los Angeles)

Hailing from the dark mysterious forests of Northern California and the concrete jungle of Southern California, Peter and James have been making music together off and on since 2001. This duo created AnachroniD in the beginning of 2005 to explore the depths psychedelic trance has to offer with a focus on creating primal, twisted, organic music.

Insomnia records presents Alien Mental - Mind Hack: The debut album of La, from Chennai-India, currently docked in San Francisco. His audial journey began by playing in many bands in his home town, in the genres of rock, punk, metal, jazz, fusion and many more. It was around 1999 he started experimenting with electronic musik and having reverse engineered countless possibilities within the new medium he quickly began to work hard on his take of electronik music. The project Alien Mental began in San Francisco after countless trance gatherings, during which he received musical visons of the future. Having discovered the magical, spiritual and healing nature of the trance dance experience he is geared towards pushing the boundries of trance by fusing a wide genre of musik together in the form of composition, rythym, melodies, structure and many such elements. He is also responsible for the trance project Sonik Scizzor and has a side project with Zik/Horror Place called Jibber Jabber. He is constantly collaborating with traveling artists to capture new experiences and different perceptions. He has released tracks on labels such as Tantrumm, Drop Out, Vertigo, Mistress of Evil and Manic Dragon to name a few. The album Mind Hack, is an eye opening journey into ones inner dimensions, society and the cosmos. It is a map that will alter your perception giving you an imprint to remember. It is inspired by Ancient Forbidden Technologies found on our planet. Be sure to surrender to the effected spectral content of the universe as you "reclaim your mind" and be mind hacked.

ok, so, since I have been sick, tired, I don't have a car, and I may need to take time off from school and have been spending gratuitous amounts of time in front of the computer, running my boyfriend's computer into the ground, I have decided to start writing about electronic music and culture.
To my disappointment, it still seems like there are no intelligent magazines out there saying anything about this type of music, which I feel still perpetuates this attitude in America that electronic music is not intelligent, spiritual, emotional, etc. It is still being relegated to the status of generic schlop that you hear in some crappy club where people are more into looking at themselves and each other in some boring, mainstream meat market than actually listening to the music.

First off, I would like to start with the band Chakratronic. Coming out of Israel, these guys perked my ears with a balanced blend of electronica, world music sounds, and traditional Indian music. I have listened to a bazillion world music groups, and a bazillion downtempo/chill groups. These days, with the sound being so popular, a majority of them fall into the category of "blah", simply producing yet another stock sound that is good for marketing. But these guys moved my mind and my heart chakra, getting a big thumbs up. Can't wait for the CD. Love and light to Chakratronic!

song recommendations: Great Beyond and Tatwamasi.

Second is DJ Tundra, straight out of Hollywood, California, spinning an introspective mix of psychedelic sounds, trance, and ambient. I liked Tundra first off because he has a very cool icon pic of Aaron Rix's art work, and struck me as the type of guy who wanted to create sounds that not only sounded cool, but ethereal. This clearly comes through in his choice of tunes for his profile, transporting the listener to a realm of third eye opening relaxation. This is definitely music for sixth sense creativity, visions, yoga, or just chilling. Again, it is hard to stay original in the realm of electronic music, especially if you are a DJ. But Tundra clearly has an energy of spirit and creativity that he brings to the tunes he's playing, making it all the more worthwhile to sit back and listen.

song recommendations: Prayer For Peace 1

And lastly, for now, is DJ Jay Trigger, someone who was cool enough to want to add me as a friend. Well, I'm so fabulous, why wouldn't you?
Anyway, Trigger, located in Boca Raton, Florida, has only one track on his profile for me to review, but it's a fabulous one. Clicking on the link to his page, you get a wave of lush beats and sounds from Ticon with the song You Make Me Wanna. Now, for some reason, trance is getting such a bad rep these days, and I don't even know why.
Maybe because it's so sincere, which is why people think it's so cheesy? If you don't like trance now, I think you will after listening to Trigger. He seems to ride that fine line between genres where he can make everyone happy, from house heads to break beat freaks to even those "geeky losers" who like trance( I still don't know what that's about, maybe someone can explain that to me.)
With a fresh approach and positive energy, it seems like Trigger can't lose on the dance floor. He also has a show on owlradio.fau.edu, where he spins from 3 to 5 pm every Friday. Maybe I'll have more to say when I hear it.

Ok, well, that's it for now. Maybe one of these guys can get me in free to the club or a party for saying nice things about them, since I'm so wonderful and charming!

If you want me to write a review about you, even if you aren't a musician or a DJ, please let me know. Just go to Send Message, point, and click.

Dropout Productions is very excited to announce the fourth full-length album from world renowned producer, Ocelot: pSyMaTix.

Composed of ten strong tracks in distinctive Ocelot style: driving, tribal,
spacey and intensely psychedelic -- pSyMaTiX is a solid, geometric sound structure that will reverberate throughout time as a genuine and extraordinary work of art.

An astounding, psychoactive journey with driving, pulsating bass lines,
spiraling melodies and expansive metagalactic soundscapes.

"Tribadelica" kicks off the wave journey with fresh, thumping sounds that pick you up and have you dancing immediately! A twisted collaboration with Digitalist called "HappyFunLand" peaks out the first wave… In no time, YOU turn into a three-dimensional vibratory pattern as you surf the waves of energy in a dancing frenzy to ‘warpDrive’ and ‘newMachine’.

The final wave will take you beyond multiverses, beyond the known galaxies, where you ‘Disappear’, ‘Catch a Zoid’…and then reintegrate into the solid realm with FireStix. Sure to ignite dancefloors world wide!

Use extreme caution: Listening to pSyMaTiX might give you super human powers, or it might just make you dance your ass off like never before. Either way, we suggest listening to it with friends on a 100KW sound system , in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Ocelot, aka Aaron Peacock, has been releasing dance floor driving favorites
since 2001. He has released on Dropout Productions, Vertigo Records, Ceiba
Records, Insomnia Records and numerous other labels. After extensive
globetrotting and releasing four full length albums, he is now known as one
of the most sought after psytrance producers coming out of San Francisco. He
produces high-impact psychedelic trance, sometimes deviating into fresh
morning goa style, for your nonstop dancing and listening pleasure.
For more information, see: http://www.dropout-productions.com/ocelot.shtml

Educational Tidbit: The name PsyMaTiX was inspired by Cymatics, the study of
wave phenomena. The word is derived from the Greek ‘Kyma’, meaning “wave”
and ‘ta kymatica’ meaning "matters pertaining to waves." Cymatics is
typically associated with vibratory patterns, or how sound patterns are
manifest in material media. If you take a plate of sand and resonate it with
sound, certain pictures appear in the sand depending upon the sound.

The come-down…

American-slash-Swiss label Dropout Productions is out with their 5th opus – which is also their first downtempo compilation… We’re used to gut-wrenching, hard-hitting hypertrance from these guys, but now they unveil their chilled side… And as you’ll find out, this is anything but regular ambient/chill… More about that later. Let’s find out what the space divers are up to first…

Let me take you thru the tracks…

#01: Master Margeritha – Quiet Place
Swiss chill-out maestro Moreno Antognini begins the spacedive… At the time of release, his debut album Mastura (Electrik Dream Records/2007) was just around the corner, and this track is pretty much a sampler of his talent… What we get here is mellow, soothing chill-out which borders on both dreamy ambient and percussion-rich downbeat… This is a spacy hybrid show-casing everything I like about Moreno’s style… The shaman samples add a more spiritual and evidently psychedelic touch to the mix. A smooth track that will appeal to most trancers. Lovely!

#02: ParaClaw – Chill In The Dark
ParaClaw is a collaboration between Alex Ladyzanskiy (Paranoize) from Israel and Charalambos Pieris (Claw) from Cyprus. They’ve collaborated before (though not as ParaClaw) and I was really impressed with their track on the 2005 Manic Dragon Records compilation Multiple Personalities. Obviously, this track is much less hardcore, but it’s still pretty damn frightening… This is evil, haunting downbeat trance… Rich in IDM-flavour and synth-exploration which ironically is also the biggest set-back of the track… It gets too damn hectic and dark for a while there… I think these guys should stick to producing dancefloor material.

#03: Atriohm – Sun Jump
Leonid & Aleksandar Golcev from Macedonia have released a bunch of really sweet upbeat tracks, and their first venture into downbeat on A Magical Journey 2 (Ajana Records/2006) was really excellent – and so is this! This is much more refined than the previous track, and this is a very lush piece of uplifting chill-out with a serrated edge.

#04: Grapes Of Wrath – D’em D’Aliens
“I believe that the machine opened up a wormhole, a tunnel through the fabric of space-time. Also known as an Einstein-Rosen bridge. Now because of the laws of general relativity, what I experienced as approximately 18 hours passed instantaneously on Earth. Now isn’t it true that these wormholes you speak of are theoretical predictions. There is no evidence they actually exist, is there? There is no direct evidence, no. Tell me something doctor, why do think theses aliens would go to all this trouble, bring you tens of thousands of light years, and then just send you home without a single shred of proof. They said that’s how it’s been done for billions of years. That’s very deep, doctor. You have no proof, because they didn’t want you to have any. A phenomenon known in psychiatric circles I believe as a self-reinforcing delusion.” It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Danish duo G.O.W. (Jacob Skouborg & Morten Wurtz)… Everything I’ve heard from their hands has been immensely psychedelic – and this downbeat offering is no exception… Dubby, crackling, eerie, fuzzy psy-chill filled with bite… The morphing sounds are cool, the Contact samples are chopped up into oblivion and the old-school melodic pads add to the feel-good level here… Yummy!

#05: Dejan – Foulek
Dejan Mihailovic from France has released some real sweet and kinky acid-filled tunes in the past… And kinky is just what this oddball track is… Quirky sounds, unexpected twists, turns and tweaks and a very high concentration of trippy FX… Mix that with a pinch of dub, jazz and avant-garde sampling and you’ve got something close to a description of this lovely track… I dunno what the hell it is, but whatever it is, it works wonders… This is easily the most hypnotic track thus far – and even though it’s pushing the boundaries into plain weirdness, I love it…

#06: Alien Mental – Mental Blues
US-based producer Lalith K. Rao is notorious for his über-dark, horror-filled, terror trax… I’ve had a hard time coping with some of his bizarre antics earlier, and judging by this perverse track I’m still not on the same wave-length as him… This bears little resemblance to the rest of the stuff here, and in essence it’s basically a minimal clash of noize and IDM… It’s not bad at all I’m just not sure why we need this kind of music on this compilation. I’m passing on this one.

#07: Ocelot – Psychedelic Family
American producer Aaron Peacock is a personal fav’e of mine. His VectorSelector album (Dropout/2005) still ranks high on my cool list and I’ll even forgive his somewhat disappointing Dream Selector (Vertigo/2006) album weighed against Aaron’s mostly cool, trippy output… This track is a dubby excursion into psychedelic downbeat… Gnarly FX, rich percussion and lovely synths in a fine blend – though the track seem to loose its focus for the last couple of minutes. It’s still pretty nice though.

#08: Nimba – Space Earth: 2High2Drum
Nimba is American artist Ariane MacAvoy – Goa Gil’s partner in crime and an esteemed member of such legendary acts as Kode IV and The Nommos. What we get here is lush, plush world music with a high concentration of ethno-tribal chill-out…Journey music! Perfect for smoking, tripping and sit-down-trancing… Now this is more like it… Delicious stuff!

#09: Khusuk vs. Bius – Exhilariam
Apparently Khusuk and Bius are the same person: Cayung Siagian from Indonesia, a spiritual spokesperson against the destruction of earth through industrialization. Anyway, what we get here is basically a sound collage of digital bits and pieces. Analogue synths, ambient pads, irregular percussion and odd instrumentation… It has appeal, but for the most part its way too avant-garde and unstructured for my taste… But under the right circumstances (and quite possibly, under the right influence) I’m sure this track has potential.

It’s not every day you get to listen to an actual space dive. And I gotta hand it to Dropout Productions; this compilation is unlike anything I’ve heard before. It is a VERY mixed collection of all kinds of downbeat music. From downbeat terror to virtually beatless illbient, over soothing chill-out to beautiful ambient… Diversity is cool, but ironically that’s also this compilations biggest flaw. The many changes in style and direction kill every shed of flow potential, and as such it doesn’t really work when you play it from start to finish… And that’s a shame.

There are some really great tracks here, but unfortunately also a couple of tracks that seem oddly out of place. Even for a (self-declared) open-minded music freak as myself. With that being said, let me also stress that the great tracks truly are great. And a couple of less-good tracks can’t take that away. So, for home-listening this didn’t cut it for me, but chill-out DJs and single-track-download iPod fans will most definitely find something to their liking here… Enjoy!

Dropout Productions: Chew On This

Dropout Productions is proud to present their 4th tasty delicacy: “Chew on This”. And it is a 10 course meal! Exotic flavors, crunchy sounds and spicy rhythms bounce through the atmosphere causing huge smiles and an extreme urge to dance. Dance floors spin and fly out of control!

With mind mangling juiciness and a flavor that can only be brought forth from the psychotropic brains of Big Noise, Para Halu, Metallaxis, Freaking, Penta, Many Faces of Digitalist, Ocelot vs. Alien Mental, Terminator vs. Nebztraxx, you are forewarned: Your mind will be wandering about somewhere else; you will not be in your body!

Perfect for forests, deserts, islands and other spacious atmospheres. Do not attempt to listen inside man-made constraints such as buildings or cars; this could cause a massive short-circuit of your delicate neurons only solved by a carefully executed rewire of your entire system. THE LABEL ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY!
Two freaks: Jeffrey, from the ancient capital of Kyoto Japan, and Jamie
(aka DJ Manifest) from Oregon USA, came together on the psychedelic dance floors of North West Nature. While from opposite sides of the planet, they shared a common vision: psychedelic music. Jeffrey had been into psychedelic rock for years before arriving in Goa during his highschool escapade in South India. As a child, he had been repeatedly bitten on the head by terrifying dragons in ancient Japanese rituals. The music he found in Goa delivered a bite he hadn’t felt in years. Jamie, who had studied audio/midi electronic music production, found his musical purpose on the dancefloors of Goa style parties which had migrated to his corner of the planet. Over the next decade, he became a pioneer figure in the NW trance scene, DJing across the West Coast and being a focal point for party organizing. Now the two have teamed up as the audio production unit, Freaks of Nature, further exploring the boundaries of mind bending music and causing dancers world-wide to Freak IN Nature.

The world has not been the same since April 19, 1943, when Dr. Albert Hofmann discovered the psychoactive substance LSD. On January 9, 2006, Dropout Productions will be dropping their third psychedelic bomb, altering awareness once again… Project Eleusis. This compilation was created in honor of Dr. Hofmann’s 100th birthday and the profound and transformational tool that he offered human consciousness.

Project Eleusis is a carefully created scientific experiment bursting with ancient languages and geometric hallucinations. Intended as an intense psychoactive journey; listening at high volumes, while dancing ecstatically, will reverse the affects of psychological propaganda, disable mass filters and enable instant manifestation.

Psychedelic pioneers like Penta, Polyphonia, The Nommos, Kindzadza, Highko and Naked Tourist have ALL outdone themselves in their attempt to twist your mind beyond recognition and ignite your body with full power, psychedelic madness. The samples are powerful, the beats are intense, and the intent is extreme: you WILL be altered.

Another veil is lifted!

Project Eleusis is the official CD for “LSD: Problem Child and Wonder Drug”, the International Symposium on the occasion of the 100th Birthday of Albert Hofmann in Basel, Switzerland, Jan 13th – 15th. http://www.lsd.info

Dropout supports the success of psychedelic trance culture by unearthing mind expanding sights & sounds, and seeking the most innovative doorways to novel realms of being. We promote music & art that clear the mind of the dancer; honoring the true origination of the word PSYCHEDELIC, from the greek words:

psyche: soul, mind, thought and spirit
delos: to make visible, clear

Dropout is dedicated to encouraging psychedelic trance and art that skyrockets dancefloors into full force overdrive.

Our mission is to amplify, strengthen and celebrate psychedelic soundscapes and atmospheres. Our vision embraces healing sound, ecstatic dance, tribal culture, and unifying ancient traditions with new emerging technologies.

We are dropping out and weaving psychedelic trance culture throughout planet earth!
oCeLoT (Dropout Productions/SF,USA)

Aaron was born into a musical family. He played many instruments including
Drums, Cello, French horn, Guitar, Bass Guitar and anything else he could get his hands on. His curiosity of "how things work" led him to build many things like musical instruments, and synthesizers from kits at university...

School band and orchestra led to garage band after garage band (Punk Rock, Thrash, Metal, Rock, Ska, etc...). This led to 4 track recorders and finally to exposure to digital audio recording and editing. Meanwhile, Aaron had been exposed to electronic dance music and gravitated towards synthesized sounds and heavily processed recordings.

Aaron began composing electronic music around 1993, and released his first tracks on Journeys Music in 1996. Interest in Mind and Perception led him to Psychedelic Trance. Forest, Desert, Beach and Warehouse experiences combined with various travels shaped his ear and his musical style. He restarted releasing music in 2001 on the 3rd Ceiba Records Compilation "Language of Light". In 2002 he released his first album "Aural Sects" as oCeLoT on Ceiba Records in conjunction with Strange Attractor. Tracks on Various Compilations followed.

Today he has played in Switzerland, Germany (Full Moon Festival), Mexico City, Delhi, Bombay, Goa, Moscow, Minneapolis, Seattle, and San Francisco among other places.

He produces high-impact psychedelic trance, sometimes deviating into fresh morning goa style and creates music for your nonstop dancing and listening pleasure.
unearthing mind expanding sights & sounds, and seeking the most
innovative doorways to novel realms of being. We promote music & art that clear the mind of the dancer; honoring the true meaning of the word 'psychedelic'.

'psychedelic' from greek psyche 'soul, mind, thought and spirit', &
delos, 'to make clear'.

Dropout is dedicated to encouraging psychedelic trance and art that skyrockets dancefloors into full power overdrive; unfolding a clear state of awareness and unity.

Our mission is to amplify, strengthen and celebrate psychedelic soundscapes and atmospheres.

Our vision embraces healing sound, ecstatic dance, tribal culture, and the unifying of ancient traditions with new emerging technologies.
